Regardless of whether you think Whole Foods Market is a bit too “granola” for you, there’s no question that its grand opening likely marks the beginning of a huge upswing in the success of the Park Lane development (which has been somewhat iffy since it opened this time last year).
Whole Foods is one of the anchors of this development, which is located off Central Expressway across from NorthPark Mall.
Our guess is that vacant retail space will begin to fill up now that Whole Foods is drawing customers and that the on-site apartments, The Heights at Park Lane, will become hot tickets (or hotter, at least).
Jason and I braved the crowds today to check out the grand opening for ourselves – and we weren’t disappointed. While the parking lot was a madhouse (and included both above-ground and underground parking), the interior of the market was much easier to navigate than Central Market, its competitor just a few blocks south on Greenville. An on-site barbecue joint, a slew of affordable wines (under $10), a cupcake bar, a wine and cheese bar, and a “cartolator” to tote your shopping cart from the underground lot back up to the main building were only a few of the snazzy features this organic food store has to offer. Oh yeah – and it’s the biggest Whole Foods in North Texas.
Here’s a quick tour – but you’ll probably want to swing by to take a look for yourself.
